BMW G-Series Gear Selector Hall Sensor Repair Kit – 2 Chips

Gear lever not registering movement, or unable to select a gear? This two-chip repair kit replaces failed Hall sensors on a matching, separate gear-selector circuit board inside selected BMW G-series centre consoles. These sensors detect the shift lever's movement and position without mechanical contact.

Kit contents: 2 Hall sensor chips. The console, gear lever, PCB, connector, tools and installation are not included. You keep your original compatible sensor board and connector. This is a component repair, not a plug-in replacement board.

Associated gear-selector fault codes

• 802692 — Hall sensor single fault
• 802694 — Hall sensor dual fault

These codes are associated with the gear-selector (GWS) Hall-sensing system. Scanner wording may vary. They identify the fault area, but do not prove that the two sensor chips are the only damaged components. Confirm sensor failure and check the board, wiring, connector, supply and selector mechanism before ordering.

What you will replace

The two small sensor chips are mounted on the separate U/C-shaped PCB shown in the images. They are commonly identified by the short sEC / EC top marking. The image guide highlights both chip locations. This is a different repair from the mechanical microswitches beneath the parking-brake button.

Replacing failed, matching sensors can restore shift-lever position detection when those sensors are the cause. This kit does not repair damaged ribbon cables, connectors, magnets, power circuitry, the main control board, a broken lever, or every fault that prevents gear selection.

Compatibility: compare your original board

For matching separate Hall-sensor PCBs in selected BMW G-series upright-lever centre-console assemblies. Not a universal fit for all G-series vehicles. The short chip marking, chassis code, model year or console appearance alone does not establish compatibility. Match the original sensor type, package, orientation, PCB layout and electrical configuration.

The same sensor kit is used for either connector style on the matching sensor boards; you retain your existing PCB and connector. No connector variant needs to be selected. Compatibility with compact toggle / short-selector consoles has not been confirmed.

If unsure, send us clear photos of your console, both sides of the sensor PCB, its connector and the original chip markings before ordering.

Installation and safety

Basic soldering skills required. This is fine-pitch surface-mount (SMD) work: suitable precision rework equipment, careful PCB handling and correct chip orientation are essential. If you are not experienced with small SMD components, use an automotive electronics technician.

Follow the vehicle manufacturer's service and power-isolation procedure before opening the console or disconnecting its parts. Do not work on a powered selector. Different vehicles, especially hybrids, may have more than one power source.

After repair, follow the applicable diagnostic procedure, verify correct selector live values and reliable gear selection, and perform any initialization or checks required by that procedure before returning the vehicle to use. Coding or calibration requirements depend on the vehicle and repair; no universal exemption is promised.
